Version 7.0 incorporates a suite of hardware and software upgrades, including General Availability of the MiniMAP 9100, enhanced VoIP capability, eSHDSL/G.SHDSL support, Annex M/L support and greater end-to-end network management capability.

The MiniMAP 9100 is a 1RU system that can be seamlessly networked with the larger iMAP 9400 and 9700 systems thereby creating a cost-effective and scaleable family of Access network elements.

VoIP Softswitch Interoperability - the iMAP family of access platforms are now interoperable with MGCP-based VoIP softswitches. As Service Providers migrate away from TDM circuit-based voice switching to IP packet-based switching, they can depend on carrier-grade designs using currently available VoIP enabled line cards – POTS24 and PAC24 (combo). This enables packet evolution of both the core Class 5 PSTN and last mile voice network.

Annex M Support – ADSL24 line cards available in all modular iMAP 9000 systems support Annex M as part of this release. Annex M doubles upstream data rates to approximately 2.5Mbps. As an alternative to T1/E1 Private Line services, Annex M enables Service Providers to reach small businesses and other market segments that may have been overlooked due to costly T1/E1 alternatives.

Annex L Support – Annex L, or Extended Reach ADSL, lets Service Providers extend the reach of their DSL lines beyond the traditional 18,000 feet normally associated with ADSL technology. Combined with Allied Telesyn's optimized ADSL2+ wiring solutions, Annex L ensures end users are offered optimal Rate vs Reach performance far into the outside plant.

AlliedView NMS Management for iMG/RG – Now the Allied Telesyn family of intelligent Media Gateways (iMG) and Residential Gateways (RG) can be managed via the AlliedView Network Management Software (NMS). AlliedView is a scaleable Network Management System supporting full OAM&P management of Allied Telesyn’s end-to-end IP Triple Play solution, which includes RGs, iMGs, iMAPs and Layer 2/3 switches.

SHDSL24 Line Card – iMAP7.0 marks the introduction of Allied Telesyn’s 24-port G.SHDSL line card, capable of supporting eSHDSL features with future software upgrades. This card is critical to the last mile global business market and supports new features such as mult-port bonding.

The RUS-accepted integrated Multiservice Access Platform is a NEBS-certified, environmentally-hardened access solution that delivers carrier-class ADSL2+ services over IP and accommodates both fiber and ADSL 2+ in a single platform.

SkyLine’s decision to overbuild their existing copper infrastructure with fiber was strategic, says CTO Jimmy Blevins. “Our goal is to be the ultimate broadband provider in our serving area,” he explains, “and to do that we know we need to make the move to fiber. We already have some existing passive fiber infrastructure, so we decided to simply build on that. We wanted to add active point-to-point fiber for the future, and we needed a solution where we could combine both of those into one integrated network.”Allied Telesyn was able to provide that synergy.

"We wanted a vendor that we could feel comfortable with in several areas: one who could meet our immediate technology needs and one with a roadmap of where they are going. Products to be deployed by NDTC include the iMAP integrated Multiservice Access Platform, capable of 100 megabit symmetrical service, and iMG intelligent Multiservice Gateways.

NDTC currently uses Allied Telesyn’s iMAP and iMG platforms to deliver ADSL2+ internet and telephone services. Phase One of the Devil’s Lake overbuild will begin this summer and incorporate approximately 1000 lines. Phases Two and Three are expected to be completed in 2006 and will reach another 2200+ subscribers.

“We knew we wanted an active fiber network and Allied Telesyn had the solution that fit our needs best,” says Rich Ellison, NDTC’s Network Services Manager. “They had a gateway for any size of deployment: from MDUs, to business, to single homes. They even customized products specifically for our needs.”
