PETALUMA, Calif. -- Advanced Fibre Communications®, Inc. (AFC®) (Nasdaq: AFCI), an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of next-generation edge access equipment and multiservice broadband solutions for the telecommunications industry, today announced its Telliant(tm) 5000 Central Office Multiservice Platform was officially listed on April 1, 2003 by the United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) as "Acceptable for Use on Telecommunications Systems of RUS Borrower's - IP 344-2." The Telliant listing can be accessed on the RUS Web site under "List of Materials: Section 6 - Transmission and Central Office Equipment for Transport Equipment."In compliance with the "General Application Procedures for RUS Product Acceptance," Telliant successfully completed more than six months of operating experience with Volcano Telephone Company, Ellijay Telephone Company, Molalla Communications Company and Fulton Telephone Company. To date, more than 50 AFC customers have deployed Telliant in their access networks for high-speed DSL services."This listing simplifies the RUS loan approval process, and facilitates the deployment of Telliant within access networks for high-speed DSL and video services," said John Schofield, chairman, president and CEO at AFC.
