Advent Appoints Sales VP

AUSTIN, Texas -- Advent Networks(TM), a provider of broadband cable networking solutions,
today announced the appointment of David Baranski as Vice President of
Sales. Baranski, a former 3Com executive, will lead Advent Networks'
domestic deployment initiatives and global distribution of the company's
Ultraband(TM) system.
Advent's Ultraband platform is the first operational broadband cable
solution in the industry that enables cable operators to offer dedicated,
ultra high-speed connections to their subscribers through existing hybrid
fiber-coax (HFC) networks. The Ultraband platform integrates into today's
cable networks and opens up new revenue opportunities for delivering data
and voice services to small- and medium-sized business markets and other
high bandwidth users.
"Cable operators have been gaining broadband market share over the past
two years with cable modems at 500 kbps to 2 Mbps," Baranski said.
"Advent's Ultraband system takes bandwidth to the next level, 5 to 40 Mbps,
effectively providing fiber-optic speeds over existing cable networks."
