HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- ADTRAN, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN), The Network Access Company, and leading provider of telecommunications equipment, today announces the first in a new line of environmentally hardened DSLAMs, the Total AccessÒ 1100 Series of Outside Plant (OSP) DSLAMs. These line-powered DSLAMs can be mounted in any outdoor environment including pedestals, poles, cross-boxes, remote terminals and other challenging locations. The first in this series, the Total Access 1124, delivers 24 ports of ADSL with integrated splitters from a DS1 network uplink. In a small footprint, the Total Access 1124 is easy to install, and can be remotely managed.

“ADTRAN’s new OSP DSLAMs will greatly broaden the carrier’s ability to extend DSL delivery without costly infrastructure upgrades,” states Jay Wilson, Director of Product Management. “It’s the ideal solution for meeting customer demand to deliver DSL in areas that, in the past, have not been economically feasible.”

The Total Access 1124 is a self-contained OSP DSLAM that is weather-tight, temperature- hardened, and has integrated primary protection. The unit can be powered to beyond 80,000 feet utilizing ADTRAN’s Line Powering Units (LPUs) from the central office. Also available with local power, the Total Access OSP DSLAM line complements ADTRAN’s existing line of Total Access DSLAMs including the Total Access 3000, a central office or remote terminal, high-density DSLAM delivering up to 1,344 ports of DSL and the Total Access 1200 Series of 1U high Mini-DSLAMs delivering 24 ports of DSL.

ADTRAN understands the needs of Telcos and Service Providers, and designs products such as the Total Access 1100 OSP DSLAMs to meet cost, operational, and growth objectives for its customers.
