LONDON -- Extending its leadership in convergent network data mediation, XACCT Technologies today announced the general availability of its real-time Charging Control Node (CCN) product that enables mobile network operators and service providers to launch value-add mobile data services to their existing pre-paid voice subscribers. Available through XACCT and its system integrator partners, XACCT Charging Control Node is the first commercially available software solution for real-time charging and control functions that allows mobile operators to offer value-add mobile data services, such as MMS, games, ring-tones, streaming video, push-to-talk, and information services on a pre-paid charge-differentiated-per-event basis, from a single pre-paid account balance. XACCT CCN is currently in trials at three major mobile operators.

"Pre-paid service is the dominant business model for mobile services in markets such as Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America," said Jason Briggs, program manager with The Yankee Group. "Operators need a solution that extends the pre-paid charging model to mobile data services in order to accelerate the uptake and bolster the average revenue per user (ARPU). Mobile operators who can provide the charging and balance management flexibility demanded by mobile users (such as advice of charge) will truly capitalize on the market opportunity for mobile data services."

"XACCT has been working closely with its customers and prospects over the past eighteen months to define the functionality required for delivering pre-paid value-add data services." said Stoyan Kenderov, Director of Wireless Solutions at XACCT Technologies. "A key requirement from operators for the product is seamless integration with their existing IN infrastructure. XACCT Charging Control Node is uniquely architected to handle granular packet-based events for content-aware charging in a high volume data environment without the need for disruptive and cost-prohibitive system replacement."
