Wificom launches a Middle East sales office in Dubai to focus on expanding markets in the Middle East, Levant, and North Africa
November 19, 2003
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Wificom Technologies, the leading global supplier of WLAN backend billing and service management systems, today announced the launch of a Middle East sales office based in Dubai Internet City (DIC). Wificom Middle East FZ-LLC will focus on the rapidly expanding markets in the Middle East, Levant and North Africa with an experienced, fully dedicated senior staff.
Wificom's other offices in Helsinki and the technopole of Sophia Antipolis, France, jointly cover the European and Asian markets with a strong partner network that will grow along with the addition of the Dubai office. The Wificom Middle East team has for months been laying the groundwork for operations. Now, following formal incorporation, the team is accelerating its work with major regional operators and integrators.
"I am proud we can make official the new sales office in Dubai Internet City," said Mohammed Bouhelal, COO of Wificom Middle East. "We are right now in the process of closing the first major deals in the region."
"We have spent considerable time in finding the right staff and partners," Bouhelal continued, "and I am confident we have the right profile to build a successful business utilising contacts from our 20-plus years of experience focusing on carrier relationships and billing, SIM card developments and the satellite business."
Mr. Mikko Riepula, CEO of Wificom Technologies said "I am particularly pleased that we have managed to conclude this establishment of the office practically at the same time with winning the first client deals in the region and that I can see the team also rapidly building their technical support capability, which often becomes the bottleneck with lighter partner arrangements. With Wificom Middle East we can offer our clients true proximity and physical presence as Dubai is the hub in the region."
Wificom's SAB Server, the advanced all-in-one solution for rollout and management of hotspot services, is being pilot tested by several companies in the region. SAB Server, with its full-fledged roaming and rating engine joined with flexible pricing options and open APIs, has a proven track record of delivering all the features needed to offer wireless services-in one single system.
The announcement of the Wificom Middle East unit was hailed by Finnish representatives as an important economic development step that is part of a larger trend.
"I'm glad to see Finnish software companies embarking in the UAE behind Nokia and others," said Risto Rekola, Finland's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. "DIC no doubt provides the right platform for a software company like Wificom to develop their business in the whole of the Middle East."
"It seems that with the local partners Wificom has found the right kind of market knowledge to complement its strong product tested on the European market," he added. "With the local appreciation for Finland's wireless expertise it's no coincidence that the UAE and Dubai in particular has become the fourth most important non-European importer and distribution centre for Finnish products. I wish Wificom all the success and expect them to be further strengthening this position of ours."
