ACTON, Mass. -- WaveSmith Networks, an emerging company focused on redefining multiservice switching for carriers, today announced the details of its WaveFlow Element Management System (EMS)™ for the Distributed Node (DN)™ multiservice switch product family. The WaveFlow EMS provides carriers with a multiservice switch management platform that is familiar to them, but delivers key enhancements as well as avoids the shortcomings of management systems from incumbent vendors. The WaveFlow EMS allows carriers to configure the DN multiservice switch product family as well as streamline new service creation by tying directly into existing operation support systems (OSSs). The WaveFlow EMS is based on the Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) model, which defines a standard framework for fault management, configuration, accounting, performance, and security tasks. "WaveSmith has put a great deal of effort into the WaveFlow EMS. They recognize the importance of OSS integration and developed a platform that easily integrates into existing carrier networks, and provides new features such as domain management, and support for both GUI and command line interfaces," said Michael Howard, principal analyst and president of Infonetics Research. "Because WaveSmith is targeting large, incumbent carriers, it's critical that their EMS looks and acts like existing platforms because carriers do not want to re-train network managers on yet another proprietary EMS. WaveSmith recognize this and has minimized the normally burdensomeefforts carriers must make when they deploy new products." WaveSmith Networks Inc.
