NORCROSS, Ga. -- Vyyo (NASDAQ: VYYO), a supplier of broadband access equipment for cable system operators, today announced a new version of its XMTS broadband hub that will dramatically expand the ability of cable operators to deliver T1 services via hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) plant.

In its booth (#4679) at the NCTA Cable Show at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center May 7-9 in Las Vegas, Vyyo is unveiling the XMTS-TE, which features fully-integrated support for IP-based transport and eliminates the need for operators to deploy TDM/SONET backbones for business services. Vyyo continues to offer and deploy its original SONET-based XMTS systems as well.

“The near-ubiquitous delivery of telecom-quality T1 services will be a key to cable’s ability to succeed in what has been estimated as a $130 billion business services market,” said Wayne Davis, CEO of Vyyo. “The XMTS-TE enables us for the first time to give operators the tools they need to sell low-jitter, low-latency T1 services across their HFC footprint.”

The Vyyo T1 solution scales in a manner that mirrors the simplicity and cost effectiveness of cable’s proven HSD deployment model: The XMTS-TE is a headend-based T1 CMTS that communicates with T1 modems at the business customer’s premise, allowing operators to tap into the long-term, high-ARPU potential of business services.
