4G LTE network to expand in Southwest, Central Florida

TAMPA, Fla. -- More wireless customers in Southwest and Central Florida soon will have access to the nation's fastest 4G wireless network, when Verizon Wireless expands its most advanced network in the Fort Myers and Lakeland areas on May 17.

Verizon has added 4G LTE (Fourth Generation/Long-Term Evolution) technology on 24 additional cell sites in Charlotte and Lee counties. Communities soon to be covered with 4G LTE include Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Charlotte Harbor, Boca Grande, Fort Myers Beach, Lehigh Acres, Felda, Parkdale and Ft. Myers Shores.

In Central Florida, nine additional cell sites throughout Polk County added 4G LTE capabilities to bring the advanced services to Fort Meade, Polk City, Auburndale, Lake Alfred, South Lakeland and Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.
