SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Veraz Networks, a leading global provider of carrier-grade next-generation telephony solutions, and NetCentrex(tm), a leading enabler of converged networks and next-generation applications, announced the completion of interoperability testing for their Contact Center and IP Centrex solutions. Interoperability of the Veraz and NetCentrex products enables customers to install pre-tested end-to-end solutions for fast and easy deployment of new enhanced services. With this solution, Service Providers can now offer hosted Call Center applications thereby enabling their corporate customers to reduce capital expenses for Customer Premise Equipment like PBXs, Switches and Call Center software.

Interoperability was announced following extensive end-to-end testing of Veraz ControlSwitch and I-Gate media gateways operating with NetCentrex Saga(r)800 network-based contact center and IPCentrex(tm) hosted telephony solutions. SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) was the common protocol glue used for interoperability between the products from both companies.

The interoperability testing was carried out under the Veraz Open Systems Alliance (VOSA) program, which NetCentrex joined earlier this year. Veraz developed the VOSA partnership initiative so that carriers can reap the competitive benefits promised by packet-based networks, such as the ability to offer enhanced services and applications from various vendors.

The Veraz ControlSwitch, Veraz's softswitch platform, drives some of the largest carrier-class VoIP deployments in the market. With its open interfaces to media devices, application servers and back-office systems, the ControlSwitch acts as an operating system for the new public network, enabling Service Providers to rapidly deploy new revenue-generating services. Leveraging sophisticated in-house DSP technology, Veraz's I-Gate 4000 line of standards-based, high-density media gateways delivers true wireline voice quality to packet telephony, while preserving end-to-end service transparency for voice, fax and data calls.

NetCentrex' ready-to-use solutions enable both service providers and enterprises to build converged networks and to deploy a wide variety of advanced, high value-added communication services which have minimum installation requirements and lower operational costs. These solutions include the Saga(r)800 network-based multimedia contact center and IPCentrex(tm) hosted telephony services. Saga(r)800 centralizes contact center technical components and call processing functions in the network. Incoming calls can be distributed to any employee at any site according to pre-defined priorities and criteria. Service providers can use the solution to offer hosted contact center services. IPCentrex(tm) extends the reach of the service provider's network into the customer premises, replacing the need for a PBX. The solution provides access to service providers' centralized resources for delivery of enhanced services such as voice mail, conferencing, and voice portals.

"Given the current market situation, carriers are particularly receptive to technologies that can easily interoperate to open up new and sustainable revenue streams," said R. Paul Singh, VP, Business Development, Veraz Networks. "We are pleased to have completed this testing with NetCentrex and to expand the available application base for our customers to include Call Center and IP Centrex applications."

"Building the next generation open networks that will drive cost reduction and new revenue generation for service providers requires best-of-breed vendors in the various network domains," adds Olivier Hersent, Chairman and CTO, NetCentrex. "While NetCentrex brings state of the art service platforms and solutions in the application domain, Veraz Networks offers the reliability and scalability of best-of-breed solutions that are required for the carrier interconnection domain. NetCentrex and Veraz' extensive interoperability testing demonstrates our common commitment to an open NGN."
