SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Veraz Networks announced today its new Enhanced Long Distance (LD) Services solution, which is part of Veraz’s Any Application Solutions family. The Enhanced LD Services Solution works together with Veraz Any Network Switching Solutions family and provides critical revenue streams for both carrier networks at any point in their transition from TDM to IP. Based on Veraz’s programmable service engine, the enhanced LD services now available are easily customizable by the carrier or by 3rd parties. Built on open, interoperable and programmable platforms, Veraz Interaction Solutions working together enable interactions across any application, any network, and any device.

The following are some of the services made available as part of the Enhanced Long Distance Services Solution:

  • Account Codes

  • Number Translations (Toll Free)

  • Personal Toll Free

  • Security Toll Free

  • Unauthorized User Redirect

  • Tariff Announcements

  • Pre-Subscribed International Long Distance

  • Automated Collect Call

  • Hotel PBX Billing

These services are created from service building blocks (SBBs) utilizing XML scripted service logic and a powerful service policy engine. Together these enable the rapid design, development, customization and network-wide deployment of new services more flexibly than other approaches.

Existing LD networks are augmented with Veraz softswitch, service delivery and media gateway platforms by either migrating or replacing traditional switches. Veraz’s ControlSwitch is field-proven with an open-standard design that is interoperability tested to support comprehensive multi-vendor environments. When coupled with a Veraz Network Switching Solution which feature unlimited scalability and centralized management plus industry leading voice quality and bandwidth efficiency across any IP network, these Enhanced LD Service Solutions are ideal for both initial migrations as well as massive network-wide deployments.

“In a competitive environment, carriers are seeking end-to-end solutions that are flexible, customizable and can bring new services to market quickly. Even carriers with traditional tandem switches need to differentiate their services to deliver additional revenue,” said Danny Klein, Senior Analyst, Yankee Group. “Those vendors having solutions with a modular architecture that can be centrally managed to deliver services to multiple regions and countries worldwide are well positioned. Carriers can then expand their networks to new regions with minimal new investment. This makes a lot of sense from a carrier’s cost-advantage point of view.”
