SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that network switching chip supplier Velio Communications Inc. has selected the Agilent 93000 SOC Series test system as its test standard. The Agilent 93000 SOC Series will allow Velio to accelerate the speed of electrical-based switches in CMOS (complimentary metal oxide semiconductor) chips while reducing time to market and time to volume. Velio engineers selected Agilent testers based on the proven power and scalability of the Agilent 93000 SOC Series, as well as its global use by semiconductor contract manufacturers and fabs. Velio's choice was also based on Agilent's proven test methodology for the multiple embedded serialization/deserialization (SerDes) devices and next-generation high-speed, high pin count devices. "The high pin count and high performance available from the Agilent 93000 SOC Series has enabled Velio to set tighter time-to-market and time-to-volume goals for our revolutionary multi-rate crosspoint switch, a pivotal move for our objective of being the leader in high bandwidth communications semiconductors," said Bernie Sardinha, vice president of operations at Velio. "Agilent's combination of innovative hardware and expert services offers us effective, prudent and full fault coverage for testing large port count integrated CDRs."
