GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- US Signal today announced that it has selected ADTRAN(R)(NASDAQ:ADTN)as the vendor of choice for both Ethernet over Copper (EoCu) and Ethernet over TDM (EoTDM) solutions. ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 Ethernet Aggregation Platform, NetVanta 800 Series of intelligent Network Termination Units (NTUs) (NetVanta 818, 838 and 873), will be used to provide the copperbased Metro Ethernet extension for US Signal's 4,000 mile fiber-based Midwestern data network servicing customers in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

By utilizing the Metro Ethernet Forum certified ADTRAN Ethernet solution suite, US Signal will be able to ubiquitously provide end-to-end solutions supporting Metro Ethernet services to all of its customers, focusing on those not passed by fiber. Deployment of these solutions spells increased services revenues for service providers like US Signal and increased reliability and control for end-user customers. These improvements are realized through enforceable Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and carrier-class reliability through 802.3ah and 802.1ag compliance.

"ADTRAN's portfolio of Ethernet solutions was selected because these products outperformed the competition, offered a broad feature set and were cost effective," said Dan Olrich, executive vice president of operations at US Signal. "ADTRAN's Ethernet solutions offer unique capabilities that allow us to reach more customers with next-generation services, and enable our customers to reap benefits in terms of both higher bandwidth and the operational benefits of a converged Ethernet network."
