SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR - News), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Turk Telekom, Turkey's incumbent telecoms operator with four million customers, has deployed Juniper Networks T-series core routers to upgrade network capacity and accelerate the introduction of new revenue-generating services. Turk Telekom aims to have nine million broadband subscribers by the end of 2008, which is expected to increase the demand for core network capacity and performance to reliably and cost-effectively support a wide range of bandwidth-intensive, high-quality voice, data and content services.

"We chose the T-series routing platform for its high performance, reliability, and scalability," said Cengiz Dogan, Head of IT at Turk Telekom. "This investment in the network core gives us a proven solution with the ability to quickly and cost-effectively expand even further in the future. Turk Telekom has already increased its network capacity 15-fold to support growing demand for multiplay services, so the migration path offered by the T-series suits our rapid growth plans and also enforces our long-term reputation as a technical innovator for the benefit of our customers."

Turk Telekom's deployment of Juniper Networks T-series routers has enabled the service provider to consolidate its TDM (Time Division Multiplexing), IP and voice networks onto a single core IP/MPLS network, supporting voice, video and data services with assured levels of quality and performance. Redundant pairs of T640 routers are being deployed throughout Turk Telekom's core infrastructure, to support approximately 180 edge locations across the country.

Shipping since April 2002, the T-series core routing platforms have an installed base of over 2,500 platforms worldwide across over 125 service provider production networks. T640 routers can be seamlessly upgraded to multi-terabit capacity with either the multi-chassis TX Matrix or, when available, the single chassis T1600, enabling customers to select the upgrade path optimized to their specific requirements. With this non-disruptive upgrade strategy that leverages the proven, feature-rich JUNOS(TM) operating system, the T-series can provide unmatched investment protection, lower total cost of ownership, and the ability to flexibly adapt to changing market requirements.

"Increasingly, end users are looking beyond price and basic speed from their broadband provider," said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president of operations, EMEA, Juniper Networks. "To remain competitive, operators must ensure that they can cost-effectively provide a flexible range of high-quality, reliable services that may include video on demand, IPTV, voice and Internet connectivity from a single IP-based network. With Juniper Networks T-series, Turk Telekom is building the high-performance core infrastructure necessary to fuel its success and growth in the marketplace."
