Trinidad Begins Spectrum Sale

Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago begins process of offering radio frequency spectrum for public BWA services

SAN JUAN, Trinidad -- The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has initiated a process towards making radio frequency spectrum available to individuals/companies wishing to provide public Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services such as high speed Internet access and wireless cable television, or private BWA services such as wireless Local Area Network (LAN) radiocommunication equipment.

Central to this process was the publication by the Authority, of the Spectrum Plan for the Accommodation of Broadband Wireless Access Services. This spectrum plan identifies radio frequency spectrum in the following bands that have been allocated for individuals / companies desirous of providing BWA services:

400 MHz
Lower and Upper 700 MHz
2.3 GHz
2.4 GHz
2.5 GHz
3.5 GHz
5 GHz
12 GHz
28 GHz

In accordance with the spectrum plan, the process by which the Authority will make radio frequency available for the provision of public Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services to facilitate the use of BWA technologies includes the following:

  • Authorisation for the provision of public Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services in the Lower 700 MHz, 12 GHz and 28 GHz Bands

  • Authorisation for the provision of public or private Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Bands.

  • Authorisation for the provision of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services in the 400 MHz, Upper 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz Bands
