Enhances its digital crossconnect system, the Titan 5500 feature package 8.0, with new remote management software
February 21, 2002
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Tellabs (Nasdaq: TLAB) enhanced its digital cross-connect system, the Tellabs TITAN(R) 5500 feature package 8.0, with new remote management software that is capable of paying for itself in less than one year. The enhanced Tellabs TITAN 5500 system's new software enables carriers to automate a network's reporting procedures and improve equipment management from a central location to significantly reduce operational costs while improving quality of service. These enhanced remote management capabilities to the Tellabs TITAN 5500 system reduces the staff needed to manage the network and eliminates the need for personnel at the central office. The Tellabs TITAN 5500 system's new automated reporting procedures will provide faster notice of network problems and enable network engineers to take pro-active, corrective actions remotely -- before customers complain -- to improve quality of service. In addition, the system's remote management tools provide backup and recovery capabilities to ensure quick network upturn that could save millions of dollars in potential restoration and refund costs. "Tellabs is enhancing our digital cross-connect system with new technology to help our customers reduce their operating costs today," said Rob Pullen, senior vice president of Tellabs' optical networking group. "We have more than 3,800 Tellabs TITAN 5500 digital cross-connects installed in the U.S., and our customers continue to rely on Tellabs to help them find ways to quickly provision new services while maximizing network profitability and improving their quality of service."
