PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Demonstrating its deep expertise and flexibility in providing service management and delivery solutions for large carriers, Telcordia, a global provider of telecommunications software and services, today announced that Hawaiian Telcom, Hawaii's leading telecommunications provider, has selected Telcordia's Service Delivery Suite of Products and professional services to complete a full transition to an independent network in six months. This transition is substantial in creating a platform that aligns with the future of the company, providing the flexibility, scalability and performance to exceed in today's competitive environment.
Hawaiian Telcom, formerly known as Verizon Hawaii, officially began operating under the Hawaiian Telcom name in May 2005 after the Carlyle Group's acquisition of Verizon Communications Inc.'s local-exchange-carrier, directory, long-distance, and Internet services businesses in Hawaii. Committed to providing uninterrupted service through the transition, Hawaiian Telcom turned to Telcordia to efficiently transform the company into a successful independent carrier and enable them to provide their customers with the most advanced services and products for the market.
"It was critical for us to maintain the high level of customer service we were known for while building on our strengths to become the premier telecommunications company for the Islands," said Harvey Plummer, Senior Vice President - Engineering and Operations, Hawaiian Telcom. "Telcordia proved to be the right choice for transitioning our current services and procedures, while providing an outlet to scale in the future as we expand our services and increase our subscriber base. What distinguished Telcordia from other companies in the market was its breadth and depth of experience, coupled with a full suite of product and services capabilities that will allow us to meet our very aggressive timeline for the seamless migration of services and subscribers to our own systems."
"Hawaiian Telcom is the primary telecommunications company in Hawaii and is committed to its customers and enhancing their experience. We are pleased that they selected Telcordia to provide the solutions to successfully streamline the transition, creating a new era for the company," said Doug Fantuzzi, Vice President, IMS Service Delivery Solutions, Telcordia. "This is a significant milestone for Telcordia, not only in terms of delivering a complete, open and flexible solution for Hawaiian Telcom but it also validates Telcordia's ability to provide superior professional services that supports our product lines and can accommodate even the most aggressive customer timelines."
