EGHAM, U.K. -- Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC) has continued to strengthen its position as a leading developer of telecommunications products for next-generation fixed, mobile, and packet networks with significant new implementations across EMEA.

More than 100 EMEA customers, including France Telecom and Orange Group subsidiaries such as Uni2 in Spain, Mobistar Belgium, Orange Netherlands, Orange Romania, Orange France, MobiNil in Egypt, Orange UK and others, have chosen Tekelec's solutions to deliver intelligence into their core networks and meet changing market conditions. In addition, tier-one mobile operators in Europe are trialing and deploying the Tekelec 8000 Wireless Multimedia Gateway with Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology support to uniquely increase network capacity, decrease operational expenses and introduce new technologies.

Wolrad Claudy, Tekelec's managing director for EMEA, said, "In today's competitive environment, operators are looking for innovative systems that enable them to improve customer service and drive down costs while ensuring a smooth transition to next-generation protocols.

"Tekelec gives operators the solutions they need to generate critical business intelligence for revenue assurance and network and service performance management," added Claudy.
