Com Hem has selected Transmode to supply transmission equipment for its fiber core network
April 12, 2005
STOCKHOLM -- Com Hem, one of Sweden’s leading Internet and CATV operators, has selected Transmode to supply transmission equipment for its network. Transmode’s system will be used in Com Hem’s fiber core network and service platform to deliver broadband services including Internet access, IP telephony and data backup.
The original order was placed with Lumentis, a company that recently merged with Transmode to form Scandinavia's largest optical networks solutions vendor. With Transmode’s MultiService xWDM Mentis-platform serving as the base in its transport network, Com Hem will lower both capital and operating costs as the platform provides uniform support for multiple signal formats.
“We selected Transmode’s technology because of the inherent flexibility in their xWDM platform. It gives us substantial cost benefits and offers a future proof, scalable solution that can accommodate different signal formats. This makes it easy for us to continuously further expand our network and traffic capacity,” says Martin Kull, CTO at Com Hem.
Transmode’s MultiService xWDM concept gives Com Hem access to a highly scalable transmission platform that supports all network solutions based on the transmission standards CWDM, DWDM and SDH. The platform handles all speeds up to 10Gb/s.
“The order from Com Hem is of strategic importance to us. It confirms Transmode as the market leader within optical network solutions and further strengthens our position in the Scandinavian market,” says Pär Johansson, Director of Sales at Transmode.
