SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Sunrise Telecom Incorporated (Nasdaq: SRTI - News), a leading provider of service verification equipment for telecommunications and cable TV networks, today introduced a new plug-in module, the Voice over IP (VoIP) module for its SunSet MTT, Modular Test Toolkit platform. This latest development provides a true voice testing solution for both packetized voice and analog voice networks. With this module, technicians using the SunSet MTT will now have VoIP functionality in a convenient handheld unit the size of a common buttset.
The Voice over IP module supports applications on Ethernet (10/100T) and Analog (POTS) interfaces. It offers a complete set of testing with the support of SIP and H.323 protocols. In addition to its ease of use and IP phone emulation, it provides single ended R factor and MOS score measurements, key parameters for verifying successful VoIP service provisioning. Important functions like PING and trace route are also available for the convenience of the technician. The module's analog interface provides testing for Caller ID, Three way calling, and Loss Measurement.
"We have been offering VoIP test solutions for a long time, but with the explosion of new services, our customers needed this capability in our SunSet MTT family to address field installation issues," stated Simon Ip, Senior Product Manager for Access Technologies. "We are now the ultimate Voice over IP test solution provider, where our latest addition comes to complement our surveillance system TAMS and sophisticated protocol analyzers NeTracker and STT MSA," he continued. "This offers the most versatile solution for both MSOs (Multiple System Operators) as well as telecommunications service providers."

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Sunrise Telecom Incorporated (Nasdaq: SRTI - News), a leading provider of service verification equipment for telecommunications and cable TV networks, today introduced a new plug-in module, the SDH/SONET module for its SunSet MTT, Modular Test Toolkit platform. This addition strengthens the SunSet MTT family as premier tool kits for the installation and maintenance of access and metropolitan networks worldwide.
The SDH/SONET Module addresses the needs for the installation of international and domestic SDH/SONET as well as PDH/T-carrier links. This module supports applications from 1.5 / 2 Mbit/s up to 2.5 Gbit/s (STM-16/OC-48). It offers complete transmission testing, as well as essential tools such as APS Timing, Pointer Monitoring and adjustment, SDH/SONET overhead control and decode for troubleshooting common problems found during the installation phase of SDH/SONET networks. The PDH/T-carrier interfaces allow the field engineer/technician to verify proper installation and operation of the tributary ports before being mapped/de-mapped to/from SDH/SONET signals.
"With the success of our SunSet MTT platform, adding SDH and SONET capabilities was a normal evolution," states Juan Luis Masmela, Senior Product Manager for Transport Technologies. "We are capitalizing on our Metro success with our Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Fiber Channel solutions and offer now the ultimate solution for all-in-one Metro and Access testing."
