ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Hekimian, the leading provider inNorth America of telecommunications network and service assurance solutions for DSL andprivate lines, today announces it has signed an agreement to be acquired by Spirent plc,an international network technology company and a world leader in advancedtelecommunications testing systems. Subject to certain closing conditions andregulatory approvals, Spirent will pay $1.575 billion for Hekimian, comprising $712 million in cash and $863million in Spirent stock. Upon completion of the acquisition, Hekimian will operate as adivision of Spirent's Communications group.
"Hekimian’s and Spirent’s products and services are extremely complementary," said Des Wilson, CEO and president of Hekimian. "Spirent gives us the international presence and expertise we need to establish global leadership in the service assurance and testing markets, and will help to expand our existing technology portfolio into technologies such as optical, fast-packet and wireless."
