ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Spirent Communications(TM) (LSE:SPT - News; NYSE:SPM - News) today announced that it will demonstrate its new Push-To-Talk (PTT) Service Assurance Solution at SUPERCOMM 2004 (booth number 11400). The solution integrates Spirent's innovative wireless probe technology with its market-leading service assurance REACT® Test Management Operational Support System and demonstrates how Spirent is delivering on its competitive strategy -- to migrate expertise and technology from the lab to develop innovative service assurance solutions that help customers solve problems and speed deployment of new products and services.

As more PTT services are deployed, service providers need to offer their customers quality of service that compares favorably to existing voice services and competitive PTT offerings. The Spirent solution enables system-wide network monitoring, diagnostic, and performance measurements such as registration delays, call setup delays, floor availability delays, audio delays, and audio quality. These measurements assist service providers in optimizing performance for PTT services as well as analyzing and measuring the impact of new software releases on those services.

Spirent's new PTT Service Assurance Solution goes beyond traditional service indicators that simply specify a network failure. With Spirent's automated solution, service providers can remotely determine why there is a service issue and conduct superior network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance management from centralized network operations centers. In addition, the solution can be expanded into other technology areas (such as MMS) through software upgrades.

"Three years ago, we integrated our global positioning satellite and CDMA wireless technologies to deliver the industry's first automated wireless location test solution. Today, we're showcasing another integrated and innovative solution that offers service providers a tool to ensure quality of service for emerging PTT services," said Jim Schleckser, president of Spirent Communications Service Assurance-Broadband unit. "With the knowledge gained from first-hand experience in development and evaluation labs, we've been able to deliver to our customers a solution that will accelerate acceptance of new services."
