NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Conexant Systems, Inc. (NasdaqGS: CNXT - News), a worldwide leader in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications and the digital home, today announced that Skyworth Digital has chosen the company’s highly integrated cable set-top box (STB) MPEG decoder for a new family of digital video broadcast cable (DVB-C) receivers for the Chinese marketplace. Skyworth Digital is a leading supplier of DVB STBs and value-added systems in China, and one of Asi a’s top consumer electronics manufacturers. Skyworth’s model C3000 STB is slated for deployment in the People’s Republic of China’s Hubei and Jiangsu provinces this year.
“Our expertise in set-top box technologies allowed us to develop a very cost-effective, high-performance cable solution for basic digital television applications,” said Lewis Brewster, executive vice president and general manager of Conexant’s Broadband Media Processing business. “We are pleased to have teamed with Skyworth Digital on this project, and that our technology will be used to provide consumers in China with an economical set-top box that enables them to watch TV programs with high-quality video resolution.”
