DUBLIN -- Shenick, a leading provider of network and application performance assurance test systems and software, has announced the appointment of Eoin O'Driscoll, the former head of Lucent Ireland, as its chairman, in a move that significantly strengthens its board of directors.

Shenick, that recently launched its state-of-the-art diversifEye(TM) network and application emulation and performance analysis test system, appointed Eoin O'Driscoll as chairman of the board due to his exceptional background in the telecommunications and networking industry which will help further Shenick's board capabilities as it enters a new growth phase.

Commenting on the appointment, chief executive officer, Alan Robinson said "Shenick is poised to enter a significant global expansion phase and we will continue to gain market leadership in the area of network and application performance test and quality assurance. As new broadband services and applications are deployed, Shenick will take advantage of rapid growth areas such as Metro Ethernet Network Services. Eoin brings a wealth of management experience through his demonstrated leadership in both public and private enterprises that promises to have a very positive effect on Shenick's operations and strategic direction."

Eoin has been involved in the networking and telecommunications industry for over 20 years, holding senior management positions with Lucent Technologies, Ascend Communications, Stratus and Nortel. Eoin has an exceptional track record and experience in all facets of business particularly in growth strategy for network equipment ventures, high-end capital equipment manufacturing, supply chain management and international business.

"I am delighted to be joining Shenick's Board of Directors as it enters into the next stage of corporate development having won its first customers in the US, Europe and Japan. Shenick is already establishing itself as a leader in combined network and application performance test, and I am very happy to take on the role of chairman for the company," Eoin stated.

Shenick, that recently launched its flagship diversifEye product at the ITU Telecom Geneva Expo, is rapidly establishing itself as an emerging leader in the combined network services and applications testing marketplace. IP oriented network service providers and the equipment vendors supplying them are facing continued pressure on CAPEX and OPEX control. However, there is also increasing time-to-market demands for delivery of a wide range of 'business class' broadband network services and innovative applications to attract and retain customers, which is making the role of test and quality assurance systems increasingly strategic.

Shenick's diversifEye product plays a critical test role in the deployment of network services such as Metro Ethernet and delay sensitive applications including Multicast video. Shenick's test system enables communications equipment vendors, service providers, integrators and large enterprises to successfully roll out new services and applications with a high degree of confidence. The diversifEye system offers per-customer, per-service, per-flow/application emulation, real time and long run performance analysis and complete automation. The combination of benefits this provides ensures increased productivity, reduced OPEX and a higher return on investment.

"The launch of diversifEye and the appointment of Eoin, coupled with the recent announcements of €2.5million in funding from Trinity Venture Capital to fuel international sales and market development, and the key reseller agreement with Mitsui in Japan, positions Shenick perfectly to garner significant market share in the network performance assurance arena," concluded Robert Winters, Shenick's chief marketing officer.
