SELEX Communications has been awarded a contract to extend Slovenia’s Ministry of the Interior TETRA
Network for Public Safety.

ROME -- SELEX Communications, a Finmeccanica company, leader in the delivery of advanced mission-criticalcommunications, navigation and identification solutions to protect communities and critical nationalinfrastructure has been awarded a contract to extend Slovenia’s Ministry of the Interior TETRANetwork for Public Safety. The contract’s comprehensive value amounts to about 2 million Euro.This contract – to extend coverage to over 75% of the Slovenian territory and provide service toroughly 3,000 users - represents the second segment of a multi-year project for the creation of anationwide TETRA network for the Ministry of Interior to guarantee secure and reliablecommunications to the Police Forces operating in Slovenia.
Additional network extensions will be deployed in segments – depending on the finances madeavailable by the government – is expected to be completed in about 2 years and provide coverage tothe entire country. The first segment of Solvenia’s nationwide TETRA network became operational inNovember 2003.
SELEX Communications has been present in Slovenia since 2003 when the Country’s Ministry ofInterior chose SELEX Communications Tetra solution to meet Schengen’s operational and securityrequirements set forth as a response to open borders and the free movement of EU citizens andgoods comply - Slovenia will become a member of Schengen in 2008.“Today, Slovenian law enforcement has one of Europe’s most advanced mobile radio communicationssolutions.
