Impsat Fiber Networks will deploy Corning LEAF fiber in its Argentina-Brazil network

CORNING, N.Y. -- Corning Incorporated(NYSE:GLW - news) announced today that Impsat Fiber Networks Inc.(NASDAQ:IMPT - news) has specified Corning®LEAF®fiber as the opticalbackbone for the next phase of its high-capacity South American network.Impsat will deploy LEAF fiber in the significant network backbone thatwill connect the cities of Curitiba and Porto Alegre in Brazil withParana in Argentina, as wellas points in Chile -- more than 2,000 route kilometers. Impsat announcedearlier this year that, as part of its ongoing commitment to provideextensive communicationinfrastructure in Latin America, it would expand its broadband networkto create the first seamless connection between Rio de Janeiro andSantiago de Chile.
