RNK VOIP selects Lucent's Compact Switch to enhance its voice-over-IP services

MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU - News) today announced that RNK Telecom, a Global Telecommunications Services Wholesaler, has selected technology from the Accelerate(TM) Next Generation Networking portfolio to enhance voice over Internet Protocol (IP) services to customers throughout its network. RNK Telecom is deploying Lucent's Compact Switch solution within its RNK VoIP business unit to replace existing Class 5 switches.

RNK VoIP, a division of RNK Telecom, provides quality wholesale VoIP products to cable operators, broadband providers, CLECs, UNEPs and entrepreneurs globally. The new compact switch will further enable RNK VoIP customers to offer enhanced calling services to residential and business customers over RNK's existing wireline/wireless local loop network as well as offer IP services, including three-digit dialing, music on hold and voicemail notification via email. RNK VoIP will also use the Lucent Compact Switch to offer wholesale VoIP services to other carriers, such as conference calling, auto attendant to route calls and find me, follow me.
