Research In Motion forms alliances with SAIC and Consilient Technologies; Rogers AT&T Wireless and Hutchison Telecom launch BlackBerry solutions

TORONTO and WATERLOO, Ontario -- Rogers AT&T Wireless and Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX; RIM) today announced the commercial availability of a new Java-based BlackBerry Wireless Handheld for the industry-leading Rogers AT&T Wireless GSM/GPRS network in Canada. The BlackBerry 6710 from Rogers AT&T Wireless offers a completely new voice experience for BlackBerry customers. BlackBerry Web Client is a web-based application that enables a single BlackBerry handheld to access multiple existing email accounts including ISP email accounts that support the POP3 protocol. BlackBerry Web Client complements the corporate email integration features enabled by BlackBerry Enterprise Server. There are currently over 34 million Novell GroupWise users. MX is mail extension software developed by Consilient through the BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program.Currently, BlackBerry Enterprise Server supports integration with Microsoft(R) Exchange and Lotus(R) Domino(TM) based environments. Using MX software, any corporate email system including Novell GroupWise may be wirelessly extended to BlackBerry handhelds without supplementary hardware purchases or changes to the handhelds.MX creates a communication link between BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the GroupWise server without using a desktop redirector.
