SAN JOSE, Calif. and ATLANTA -- Redback Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: RBAK), a leading provider of next-generation networking equipment, today announced that it would participate in an interoperability demonstration as part of the BCD Forum at SUPERCOMM 2003 in Atlanta, June 2nd - 5th. The demonstration will take place at the BCDF Booth # 10327 in exhibit hall C.

Redback will be interoperating within a multi-vendor network with equipment such as Wi-Fi access points, video encoders, set-top boxes and VDSL DSLAMs to exhibit the ability to deliver high-bandwidth media services such as multicast video over broadband networks. In the interoperability testing, Redback’s newly introduced SmartEdge® Service Gateway platform will be one of the core service insertion points in the network, enabling QoS, IGMP termination for multicast, policy management, packet classification and queuing.

“This real life demonstration showcases how Redback’s SmartEdge platforms can deliver content-rich services like broadcast video, video-on-demand and other content services with high QoS and service guarantees to the subscribers, that will enable service providers to deliver revenue generating IP services of today and the future,” said Shailesh Shukla, vice president of marketing and business development at Redback. “The requirements of delivering these high bandwidth services, namely high performance multicast, scalable IGMP and fast zap rates, represent the basis for Redback’s Service Gateway platforms and will be highlighted at this demonstration.”
