BARCELONA, Spain -- Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced its participation at Mobile World Congress 2009, Barcelona, 16th- 19th February. Red Hat will be demonstrating its carrier-class open source solutions, an affordable and flexible offering, well adapted to support the increasingly competitive and cost-sensitive needs of the telecommunications sector.

Red Hat offers a compelling open source platform for the development of converged services, including voice, data and video, and allows tier-one carriers to reduce IT costs while maintaining high performance and increasing time to market for new products and services. JBoss Enterprise Middleware and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms offer service providers a proven alternative to traditional proprietary vendors from the operating system to middleware infrastructure to communications platforms.

"Telecommunications carriers are continuously looking for new ways to improve Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and introduce new revenue generating services in a quick and cost-effective manner, while reducing churn," stated Santiago Madruga, Red Hat's Iberia Country Manager. "As such, they see high value in carrier-grade open source solutions which are ideally suited to support development and innovation and enable much faster time to market for new products and services than traditional proprietary solutions."
