Canada's financial services hub to benefit from industry-leading financial services ring

HERNDON, Va. -- RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation (NASDAQ:RCNI - News) and a premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, today announced plans to extend its network from 111 8th Avenue, New York City, New York into Toronto, Canada. Beginning May 31, 2010, RCN Metro will offer the region low-latency Ethernet services including switched Ethernet, "Burstable" Ethernet and full-rate up to 1 Gigabit Ethernet.

"After New York and Chicago, Toronto represents the third largest financial services center in North America. This network expansion provides RCN Metro a tremendous opportunity to further expand the reach of our, ultra-low latency Xtreme network into the region's leading financial services markets," said Felipe Alvarez, President of RCN Metro.
