EATONTOWN, N.J. -- Quintum® Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of Voice over IP solutions, today announced that Kurt Baumann, former executive for PSINet, has been appointed President.

Mr. Baumann brings more than a decade of executive experience in running technology companies in high-growth markets, both domestically and internationally. His main focus will be accelerating Quintum’s growth strategy by elevating the company’s position in the VoIP market, and leveraging its existing and future VoIP deployments globally.

Involved with technology, networks, and the Internet since leaving the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1982, Mr. Baumann possesses the technical and executive acumen to further establish Quintum as a leading global supplier of VoIP solutions.

Previously, he served as a consultant at AT&T Information Systems, where he helped build one of the first intranet implementations of TCP/IP in the United States. Mr. Baumann also founded InterCon Systems Corporation in 1988, one of the early Internet software vendors.

In the international market, he started the first commercial ISP in Japan, a company that is now the second largest ISP in Japan. Both companies were subsequently sold to PSINet, where Mr. Baumann later became Vice President of Consumer Marketing. In this role, he built the company’s consumer business pipeline from 5,000 customers to over 120,000 in just six months.

Mr. Baumann left PSINet in 1997 to co-found Inter.Net, a global Internet service provider, where he is currently a member of the board and its Chairman.

“I was interested in participating in the VoIP revolution and the trend toward implementing converged networks,” said Kurt Baumann. “With Quintum, I have found a company with a solid business model, the right team and technology in place, and a strong opportunity for success.” I am proud to be joining the first-rate team at Quintum.”

“We are thrilled that Kurt has joined our management team,” said Cheng Chen, CEO of Quintum. “Kurt offers the necessary experience to take Quintum to the next level as the VoIP market is showing signs of explosive growth.”
