MARLBORO, Mass. -- ProQuent Systems, a leading provider of intelligent mobile data infrastructure and Openet Telecom, a world leader in real-time charging, convergent mediation and rating, today announced that they have integrated and tested content charging solutions targeted at the mobile IP billing market.

The combined solution integrates Openet's FusionWorks ActiveCharge solution with the ProQuent MSSP application delivery and management platform. The ProQuent MSSP uses patented IP Detection Point technology to perform real-time monitoring and content discrimination of all users' IP data sessions at full wire speed. Openet was able to use the ProQuent open API to easily enable this integration.

ProQuent's patented IP Detection Point technology allows complete classification, layer 2 through 7, of IP data traffic without adding any latency to the subscriber flow. IP detection points are provisioned by the use of regular expressions allowing recognition of patterns in the IP data flow at both broad and highly granular levels. The use of IP Detection Point technology allows the translation of protocol messages into real-time events which can be used to report subscriber activity to applications, such as FusionWorks ActiveCharge, or serve as a trigger point to invoke service logic. The translation occurs irrespective of whether the content is hosted by the operator or comes from the public internet, providing the operator with total visibility and control of subscriber traffic.

FusionWorks ActiveCharge is a fully scalable Real-time Charging Solution that enables operators to deliver any service, to any type of subscriber, over packet data networks and ensure that the services are charged for by any payment method in real-time before delivery actually takes place. FusionWorks ActiveCharge enables service providers to manage the growing complexity of their business infrastructure - including the collection of subscriber usage information, the integration of new and legacy billing systems, event-based transaction pricing and management, content-based charging, customer care, data warehousing, fraud management and other related applications.

"These two cutting-edge products fundamentally change the game relative to introducing new charging schemes. The MSSP provides real-time charging events to the FusionWorks engine where dynamic and flexible mediation rules can be applied," said Tom Hamilton, CTO and Founder ProQuent Systems. "The configurability of both products enable new degrees of freedom for creating service packages and premium services, allowing the operator to generate new revenue streams."

"Openet is excited about the opportunity to work with ProQuent to meet the growing need of mobile operators for scalable, economical and highly flexible solutions to address the elusive IP billing data opportunity," said Joe Hogan, CTO and Founder Openet Telecom. "The combined products empower operators to implement the billing models of tomorrow."
