SAN FRANCISCO -- Proficient Networks, Inc., a leading provider of network optimization solutions, today announced an enhanced software version for the Proficient Network Policy Engine™ product family, offering additional capabilities to implement business objective-based intelligence to further optimize existing network infrastructure. Using the NPE1010A and NPE510A, global enterprises can now implement and support multi-homing network design with more ease than ever before. Additionally, the Cost-based Load Sharing feature is the industry’s only solution that proactively routes traffic to simultaneously maximize performance for selected traffic while intelligently distributing the remaining traffic to minimize overall costs. "Companies are recognizing the value of network optimization solutions, which can help reduce network costs and improve performance," stated Kevin Werbach, Contributing Editor, Release 1.0. "By integrating ISP contracts into network policy, Cost-based Load Sharing can deliver business results while ensuring reliability."Proficient Networks new release reinforces continued leadership in network optimization solutions that enable enterprises to proactively optimize and control routing based on business objectives. Presently, competitor solutions do not apply routing policy to a group of Internet links as a combined asset. The Proficient Network Policy Engine is the only product on the market today that simultaneously applies performance-based routing policy while taking into account ISP link billing structures and clearly demonstrating performance improvements and cost-savings. While other solutions offer simple preference weights for links to manage costs or alarm only when a budget goal is exceeded, Proficient Networks Cost-based Load Sharing feature allows organizations to continuously and proactively monitor billing models of each link and to route traffic consistently. “In these lean economic times, IT departments are facing increasing pressure to reduce network costs without sacrificing network availability and predictability,” stated Allan Leinwand, President and CEO of Proficient Networks. “Our new product upgrade plays a critical role in enabling organizations to successfully match business and application objectives with network policy.”Proficient Networks Inc.
