IRVINE, Calif. -- OpVista, Inc., a developer of optical transport technology for the deployment of “anything-on-demand” services in the cable industry, today announced the addition of John Gault, a former senior executive at Time Warner Cable, to its advisory board. Gault’s strong knowledge and extensive experience in the cable industry will help guide OpVista into the marketplace.
With more than 30 years of experience in the cable industry, Gault was most recently Executive Vice President at Time Warner Cable. Previously he was President of Time Warner’s predecessor company, Manhattan Cable. He has also held senior positions at American Television and Communications Corporation (ATC) and Television Communications Corporation (TCC). Gault is currently Chief Executive Officer of Cable Intel, Inc., a consulting services company he founded in 1999.
“OpVista’s MetroVista platform demonstrated to me a key technology with unique capabilities and advantages for cable companies,” commented Gault. “The benefits were obvious; low cost, extreme scalability, and the ability to carry all services over the same fiber, under a single network management system. The MetroVista platform promises to help cable companies offer truly compelling next generation subscriber services at affordable prices.”
Gault will help guide OpVista into key relationships with cable companies, helping expose OpVista’s product benefits to the market. Gault joins OpVista’s advisory board following a successful product launch of its MetroVista optical transport system at the Cable-Tec Expo in Philadelphia last month. The company is scheduled to ship MetroVista in the third quarter of 2003. MetroVista’s capabilities make it ideal for cable operators seeking to deploy cost-effective, interoperable, high capacity transport solutions for Video-on-Demand (VOD), ATM/SONET replacement, business services, and integrating video, voice, and data onto a single fiber.
“John is one of the most experienced and widely respected executives in the cable industry and will be a tremendous asset to our company,” said Gary Trimm, President and CEO of OpVista. “As we introduce new technology and operational choices to the industry, his guidance will be invaluable.”
