Optical Communication Products adds fast Ethernet and Escon SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) transceiver options to its product line
February 12, 2004
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. -- Optical Communication Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCPI), a leading manufacturer of fiber optic subsystems and modules for metropolitan, local and storage area networks, today announced the expansion of its Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) product line with the addition of modules to support Fast Ethernet and ESCON applications.
"We continue to expand our SFP product portfolio to address our customers' requirements in an ever-changing market," said Kirk Bovill, OCP director of marketing. "Fast Ethernet and ESCON applications are still very much in demand in the enterprise and storage area network infrastructures. These new products allow OCP to offer our customers one-stop shopping with a very broad product line of SFP transceivers."
The single mode Fast Ethernet SFP transceiver uses a 1310nm Fabry Perot (FP) laser and is designed to be compatible with ANSI X3.184-1993 standard for FDDI SMF-PMD category I. Wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius and Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) options are available. The Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) functionality is integrated into the design via an I2C serial interface per the Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), SFF-8472, Rev. 9.3.
The multimode Fast Ethernet SFP transceiver uses a 1310nm LED and is designed to be compatible with ANSI X3.166-1990 FDDI PMD standard. A wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius option is also offered.
The multimode ESCON SFP transceiver uses a 1310nm LED and is designed to be compatible with 200Mb/s ESCON 62.5 micron multimode fiber standard. Extended operating temperature range of -5 to +85 degrees Celsius and Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) options are available.
Pricing and shipping information of all transceivers are available by contacting OCP sales at 818-251-7100 or via e-mail at [email protected].
OCP SFP transceivers for Fast Ethernet and ESCON applications will be on display at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC 2004) on February 24-26 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Please visit OCP's booth #1639 for more information.
