PBT-enabled Ethernet technology enhances operations, offerings

BOGOTA, Colombia -- Promigas Telecomunicaciones, a major supplier of network services for service providers in Colombia, is expanding its current network infrastructure using Nortel´s(1) (TSX: NT)(NYSE: NT) Carrier Ethernet solutions. The network expansion allows Promigas Telecomunicaciones to meet increased high-bandwidth demand in the region essential to real-time video, VoIP and streaming media across a variety of devices.

Promigas Telecomunicaciones currently provides metro broadband transport services in four major Colombian cities: Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena and Bucaramanga. The expansion, based on Carrier Ethernet, positions Promigas Telecomunicaciones for continued growth within Colombia as well as throughout the region. As well as network reliability, the Carrier Ethernet enhancements are delivering scalable, and simple to manage Ethernet transport offerings.
