Nokia and Warner Music take music mobile with the Nokia 3300 -- for music fans to "legally consume music content" (how's that for a catchy slogan?)
June 2, 2003
ESPOO, Finland -- Nokia and Warner Music International today announced a new marketing collaboration to make music truly mobile for the Nokia 3300 music device. The collaboration - one of the first international campaigns between Nokia and a single music company - marks a completely new way for music fans to legally consume music content.
An inbox MMC memory card will include short music clips from emerging artists, as well as True tone ring tones, multimedia message templates and color wallpapers. The Nokia 3300 music device is the first Nokia device for the GSM markets supporting True tones, an exciting new way of personalizing the combined mobile phone and music device with real music samples as ring tones to alert users of an incoming call.
As an additional bonus, the Nokia 3300 sales packages will contain a CD-ROM of full-length tracks showcasing the talents of young, upcoming artists from Warner Music International, which users can download to their Nokia 3300 music device using the included Nokia Audio Manager PC software.
Nokia and Warner Music International will be promoting three bands in connection with the Nokia 3300: A (www.a-communication.com), Harry (www.h-a-r-r-y.com) and Krezip (www.krezip.com). A's hard edged punk/rock sound has been on the scene since 1997 and with recent hits in the UK, they are making a name for themselves. Harry is a great rock/pop female performer from the UK, with an iconic style and a passion for being herself. Krezip, after starting life as a high school band, has been recognized as one of the major emerging Dutch acts.
Jay Durgan, Senior Vice President Marketing, Warner Music International commented; "Warner Music International are very pleased to be involved in this new marketing collaboration with Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications. Moreover, Nokia's and WMI's shared intertest in providing a legal, efficient and easy means for consumers to preview artists and their music is most gratifying and has enormous potential. And WMI look forward to exploring with Nokia other ways of working together including the possibility of involving our sister companies within the AOL Time Warner group."
"Music is a part of our everyday lives and the Nokia 3300 brings together technology and music in an innovate and appealing package. Working with Warner Music International we can create possibilities for fans to enjoy music and personalize their mobile devices in a whole new way, with extra content s such as a wallpaper or True tone ring tone from your favourite artist, " said Ilkka Raiskinen Senior Vice President, Entertainment and Media Business Unit, Nokia Mobile Phones.
Designed specifically for enjoying music, the Nokia 3300 music device working on GSM 900/1800 bands, incorporates a portable digital music player (MP3/AAC), a stereo FM radio, a digital recorder, advanced ring tones for a real music experience and enhanced messaging* and games features in a single high quality, fun package. The Nokia 3300 music device is equipped with a Pop-Port(TM) connector enabling the use of a USB cable for easy transfer of music files, and has a 64 MB MMC memory card as standard in the sales package.
