HELSINKI -- The Nokia TETRA system in Brunei Darussalam was officially opened today, marking the first professional mobile radio system for secure communications in the country.
The radio communications network of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Brunei Darussalam includes the fully digital, highly scalable and reliable Nokia TETRA DXTip switching platform, Nokia TETRA Base Stations for radio coverage, TETRA terminals and the Nokia Dispatcher Solution for control rooms. The implementation of the project was conducted by Nokia's Value Added Reseller Arrisma Engineering and Technical Services in Brunei Darussalam.
"The deployment of TETRA for our strict security requirements is the strategic cornerstone of our operations and we have been very satisfied with both Arrisma Engineering and Nokia, who have provided us with a full turnkey solution," said an official from the Brunei Ministry of Defence.
Nokia TETRA System offers the highest security available at the TETRA market today. This combined with seamless network wide communication features, scalable core network design, advanced mobility management and Nokia's experience in digital radio communication networks puts Nokia TETRA System well ahead of its competition.
"Our proven and reliable TETRA system together with the latest Nokia THR880 handportables will provide the Ministry of Defence with an excellent platform for radio communications for years to come," says Mikko Pokkinen, Marketing Director, Nokia.
"Our strong market position as well as strong and continuous investment in R&D makes Nokia a future-proof partner, and also ensures further development of MoD's communications facilities as TETRA evolves in the future," he adds.
