ESPOO, Finland -- Nokia is supplying a centralized MMS system for TeliaSonera's networks in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, enhancing its multimedia messaging service by employing a single MMS system across the four Nordic countries. The centralized system supplied by Nokia replaces different MMS solutions previously implemented in the individual countries.
TeliaSonera has already implemented the Nokia MMS Center for its Finnish affiliate. Now by employing the same MMSC also for its Danish, Swedish and Norwegian MMS customers, TeliaSonera will benefit from increased synergies and cost-savings.
"We have been extremely pleased with the robust and reliable service we have enjoyed with Nokia's MMS solution in Finland," says Harri Koponen, Deputy CEO, TeliaSonera. "Now we are happy to be extending this same state-of-the-art service to our customers in all the Nordic markets. By consolidating all of our multimedia messaging - across four countries -- into a single Nokia MMS Center, we will greatly streamline our service offering and operational costs, while providing a uniform level of MMS service for the entire Nordic region."
"This is an excellent example of the capabilities of our MMS solution," says Olli Oittinen, Vice President, IP Mobility Networks, Nokia Networks. "Originally implemented to serve a single network, the Nokia MMSC can be easily scaled to meet increased capacity while providing the same high-level of service across several networks in different countries. Furthermore, the usage of the Nokia MMS Center significantly lowers the barrier to achieving full interoperability with other operators offering MMS service. We see this as a clear and huge benefit for an international operator such as TeliaSonera."
