MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Guangdong MCC demonstrated Nokia's Push to talk over Cellular technology to the public at World Telecom Day on May 17. Following the initial service trials, Guangdong MCC will undertake market trials, where its lead customers will trial push to talk with Nokia terminals over Nokia Push to talk over Cellular infrastructure. Guangdong MCC intends to launch push to talk commercially in the second half of this year.

With push to talk, mobile phone users can use their mobiles like walkie-talkies, communicating with a selected group or an individual with the push of a single button. The service is a new direct method for instant one-on-one or one-to-group communications.

"Nokia's world-leading PoC technology has confirmed the strong market potential of this service. We believe push to talk will enrich the way people communicate, and will be attractive both to the enterprise and the mass market," says Li Gang, General Manager of Guangdong MCC.
