GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- NextPoint(TM) today announced that it is teaming up with ZTE, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, providing for the combination of NextPoint's Femtocell Gateway(TM) with ZTE's range of UMTS products. This combined solution will allow mobile operators worldwide to dramatically improve coverage at home and at work, and will provide secured access for millions of mobile network subscribers.

The agreement brings together NextPoint, a newly formed company being created from the merger of NexTone and Reef Point, a leader in fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) border platforms and secure interconnectivity solutions, with ZTE, a leader and innovator in the delivery of innovative mobile technologies for next-generation networks in Asia and throughout the world, to provide an enhanced coverage solution for operators to offer their subscribers. NextPoint and ZTE will offer a joint solution that addresses the end to end requirements of UMTS operators in deploying femtocell solutions.

In addition to providing secured access connectivity over its IntelliConnect® System platform, NextPoint will provide technical training and customer support services to ZTE and its customers.

In the dynamic and growing telecommunications market, wireline and wireless operators are under increasing pressure to deliver solutions, including fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solutions, that connect devices to networks, and networks to networks, enabling high quality voice, data, video and multimedia sessions to flow predictably, efficiently, securely and reliably.

"NextPoint's solution enables ZTE to deploy millions of Femtocells securely, enabling our customers to deliver unmatched home cellular service over existing broadband networks," said Hui Fang, President of ZTE's UMTS Division. "Working with the team at NextPoint, we will help operators retain customers and allow for new services while addressing subscriber concerns about coverage at home and in the workplace."
