PARIS -- NetCentrexR (www.netcentrex.net), the leading enabler of converged voice-video-data networks and next-generation services, and NextGenTel, a next-generation telecom company and number two broadband and xDSL operator in Norway, announced today that NextGenTel has selected NetCentrex' MyCallR Residential Communications solution to offer IP-based telephony services to residential users.

NextGenTel was founded in March 2000 and already has around 80 000 broadband Internet access and data service subscribers. It has one of the fastest growth paths of private xDSL operator's in Europe and its objective is to be the driving force in broadband communications. NextGenTel's creation of an IP telephony offer for the residential market is an important step forward in the company's program of service deployment. It enables NextGenTel to extend its communications offer into the voice market, opening up new revenue opportunities and increasing market share.

Olav Stokke, CEO of NextGenTel, explains, "NextGenTel believes that the future of communications lies in building a robust and powerful broadband network all the way to the customer on which multi-purpose services are delivered using IP based solutions. Faster Internet surfing may be attractive today, but it will be a complete communications offer with rich service features that will be key to service providers' success tomorrow. NextGenTel chose NetCentrex MyCallR solution for the deployment of its residential IP telephony services because the solution delivered the service features and scalability essential to our long term strategy. The solution integrates quickly and easily into our existing system deployments, can function in a multiprotocol environment, and provides all the necessary legal services."

"NetCentrex has registered a marked increase in interest in IP-based communications in the Nordic region in the last year," states Olivier Hersent, Chairman of NetCentrex, "End users are becoming more aware of the possibilities offered by next-generation technologies. They want multiple communications packages with easy access which are rich in value-added features, offer self-care services and are competitively priced. IP communications enable all these requirements and NextGenTel is well positioned to reply to this increase in demand. Their IP telephony deployment for residential users will enable them to remain at the forefront of next-generation services."
