DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Mintek Mobile Data Solutions, the cable industry’s leading provider of turn-key, mobile data solutions that seamlessly integrate with the three major billing systems (CSG, ICOMS, CableData), will unveil enhanced versions of its Sales Force Automation (SFA) and Tap Audit systems at this year’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo (booth 1841). The event will be held in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center from June 19-22.

Central to the new software rollout is Mintek’s introduction of new hardware—the MC 70 series of Motorola (formerly Symbol) terminals—that will enable improved software functionality and also add multiple efficiencies to sales and audit processes. Compared to the Symbol SPT 1800 series of handhelds currently running on the Palm operating system, the Windows Mobile Pocket PCs feature more powerful processors, additional RAM, and color screens.

Because the Windows Mobile devices include a wireless radio option and function using Bluetooth, WAN, or WWan systems (Sprint, Nextel, Cingular), direct sales representatives (DSRs) and tap auditors can access cable customer information in real time via an encrypted connection. Previously, data was updated using a batch process. DSRs and auditors can do on-the-spot credit checks, schedule installation, and even process payments all on the handheld. With an available printer, customer receipts can be printed immediately.

“The new MC 70 devices will save DSRs and tap auditors a significant amount of time because they will no longer have to call the office to confirm address and customer status information,” says Lind Hutton, Mintek’s Executive Vice President and COO. “Those extra hours each day can be spent on additional audits and sales calls—a win-win situation for everyone.”
