MERRIMACK, N.H. -- Metrobility's Radiance Optical System Offers Feature Ready Solution for Low Total Cost of Ownership and Comprehensive Manageability in the First Mile
Metrobility Optical Systems today announced it has joined the Juniper Networks (Nasdaq:JNPR) Infrastructure Alliance Program to provide service providers a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) services.
"There are limited solutions for the mass deployment of Ethernet services in the metro access market," said Tony Scarfo, director of new market development at Juniper. "This partnership is important because it combines the best physical layer products from Metrobility with the best Layer 2 and 3 products from Juniper to offer a truly cohesive Ethernet First Mile solution for customers."
At the heart of the solution is Metrobility's Radiance Optical Ethernet System and Juniper Networks E- and M-series platforms, which enable customers to deploy Ethernet in the First Mile. Radiance provides a set of operation, administration and maintenance (OAM) features for remote management, including line quality, troubleshooting and testing, and equipment health. These features enable service providers to effectively monitor and troubleshoot remote optical Ethernet links to lower the cost of ownership while providing greater customer satisfaction. Because Radiance also enables copper-to-fiber conversion capabilities, service providers can also reduce the cost of the cabling infrastructure by using fiber only where required, and increase the return on investment in legacy network equipment by utilizing existing copper-based switches.
