Marconi softswitch is certified for deployment in Russian Federation
March 9, 2005
LONDON -- Marconi today announced that its SoftSwitch XCD 5000, which is part of the Impact SoftSwitch platform, has passed all the tests demanded by the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Communications and Information, allowing the innovative voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution to be deployed in the Russian Federation at any time.
The Ministry had demanded several factory and line tests, which were conducted by the St. Petersburg Research and Development Telecommunications Centre (LONIIS) as well as Marconi facilities in both Coventry and Liverpool. These tests are mandatory for technologies that are to be introduced into the Russian market to assure interoperability with equipment of other manufacturers and conformity with the technological demands of the Ministry of Communications in Moscow.
”Marconi is only the second supplier to get the certification for VoIP solutions for the Russian market”, said Dr. Stefan Kindt, managing director of Marconi Communications GmbH. ”Providers in the Russian market have the unique opportunity to take the grand leap from analogue telecommunications to VoIP at once. Our SoftSwitch XCD 5000 gives them the technology they need. The early certification is a welcome further endorsement of our market-leading SoftSwitch.”
