LONDON -- Marconi Corporation plc (London: MONI and NASDAQ: MRCIY) today announced that it has been awarded Type Approval Certification for six Short Haul and Long Haul radio technologies by the China Ministry of Information Industry (MII). The certification, a pre-requisite for the sale of radio products in China, will allow Marconi and its distribution partners to penetrate the Chinese market with products from the Marconi Digital Radio System (MDRS) broadband wireless portfolio, which provides point-to-point microwave radio solutions delivering highly available bandwidth (up to 3Gbit/sec on a single antenna) for both metro and trunk networks.

Under the governance of the MII, Radio Type Approval is a mandatory certification for trading radio emission products in China. The State Radio Monitoring Centre (SRMC), the authorised testing and certification organisation for Radio Type Approval applications in Mainland China, awarded Type Approval Certification to the following Marconi MDRS products following a rigorous testing process:
