RICHMOND, Va. and MINNEAPOLIS -- Mapcom Systems and Optical Solutions today announced a non-exclusive strategic partnership that will enable the new partners to offer telecommunications companies software to improve fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) installation services. This new partnership gives service providers the ability to effectively track and manage their existing and new FTTH assets within one integrated, "proactive" plant management program.Mapcom Systems and Optical Solutions see their partnership as a natural one because their target markets are identical and their products are non-competing. Optical Solutions' FiberPath* 400 FTTH system is deployed by facilities-based service providers such as independent phone companies, competitive and incumbent local exchange carriers, utilities, municipalities and housing developers. Mapcom Systems is the developer of M4® Solutions, a Proactive Plant Management® software application designed to track and manage central office, headend, outside plant and fiber assets within one integrated system. The M4 Solutions software provides a seamless transition between tracking what a company already has and the new technology being added as a result of a FTTH installation."The Optical Solutions FiberPath 400 system is an ideal platform for our customers as they upgrade their networks and build new ones," says Chuck Flournoy, vice president of operations at Mapcom Systems. "Both Optical Solutions' and Mapcom Systems' products and services represent critical foundations for telecommunications companies as they prepare for a future of converged services.""Mapcom's M4 plant management software will help our customers simplify their FTTH deployments and the management of day-to-day administrative functions, while significantly improving support options in their environments," said Peter Jew, vice president of marketing, Optical Solutions.Optical Solutions Inc.
