SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Kodiak Networks, the leading provider of advanced wireless voice systems, today announced the latest advancements to the Kodiak Real-Time Exchange™ (RTX) System, including Kodiak Voice Bridge™ – full-duplex instant conferencing and Kodiak Voice Notes™ – instant voice messaging. Building upon its success with commercially deployed advanced wireless and Push-to-Talk (PTT) systems around the world, Kodiak continues to lead the industry with a series of innovative voice applications that allow end users to experience premium wireless voice communications. These services help GSM and CDMA wireless operators increase revenue per minute of use and reduce customer churn.
Until now, wireless customers have faced a number of limitations with cellular and instant voice communications:
Lack of real-time presence/availability information for call recipients
Inconvenient and time-consuming group calling and conferencing options
Cumbersome and slow solutions for sending a voice message to multiple people
The Kodiak RTX System helps remove these limitations by enabling a suite of IMS-capable, Advanced Voice Services (AVS) applications that can be deployed on a variety of embedded, open OS and Kodiak SIMpower™ handsets. These applications and features include:
Kodiak Instant Availability - Displays the current availability of other AVS-enabled customers and groups to receive wireless calls.
Availability states include “available”, “do not disturb”, “silent mode” and “offline”.
Kodiak Voice Bridge - Provides fast and easy set-up of mobile-originated, full-duplex, conference calls with up to 30 wireless and landline participants. Call participants can be local, national or international.
Kodiak Voice Notes - Allows instant voice messaging from Kodiak-enabled phones to contacts/groups with any wireless or landline phone - without waiting to leave a message or ringing the other person's phone.
Handset-Based Contact & Group Management - Accelerates user ability to instantly create, modify and delete individual contacts, groups, and group members, directly on their handset. Contact management is permission-based, allowing users to control which groups and contact lists they are joining. Contact information is stored on the carrier network or Kodiak SIMpower client and can be easily restored in the event of a lost or stolen handset.
Kodiak Quick Groups - Provides users with the ability to select members of their contact list to create a quick group call.
Call Me Alerts - Enhances the efficiency of PTT by allowing users to send an on-screen alert to another PTT user to request a voice conversation.
Call Upgrade - Allows PTT users to upgrade an instant group call to a full-duplex conference call with the push of a button. Roaming Support - Enables the initiation or receipt of calls outside the operator's home network in expanded coverage areas provided by roaming partners. This capability greatly extends the service reach of CDMA and GSM operators.
Lawful Intercept Support - Allows public safety and local law enforcement agencies to lawfully intercept PTT calls. This enhanced functionality is fully U.S. Government CALEA compliant.
Priority Calling Support - Permits authorized users to make priority PTT calls in emergency situations. Kodiak Priority Calling uses existing network standards to provide designated subscribers with immediate access to busy networks.
“Kodiak is committed to helping wireless carriers offer innovative voice services that enhance end user daily communications,” said Bruce Lawler, vice president of business strategy, Kodiak Networks. “We have worked with carriers around the world to identify the unique characteristics of their customer base and develop voice services that meet those needs.
