CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (NASDAQ:XXIA - News), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, announced today that the latest release of its industry-leading IxANVL(TM) conformance and interoperability test solution expands its comprehensive network protocol support. IxANVL 6.80 adds validation for the BGP4+ IP routing protocol, extending an array of conformance tests for IPv6 networks that already make IxANVL a dominant test tool in this market segment. The release also introduces support for the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) for validating the IEEE 802.3ad standard. LACP is increasingly deployed in data center and next generation Metro Ethernet networks as a method for improving network performance and failover protection. Whether employed for protocol interoperability validation or regression testing new releases, IxANVL is an indispensable tool for leading Network Equipment Manufacturers, Internet Service Providers, and Embedded Stack Developers for Communications Processors. By incorporating IxANVL into the development and test processes, test engineers save time and money because they are not spending valuable resources developing their own test suites.

The conformance and interoperability test suites that are at the heart of the IxANVL solution have been developed to ensure compliance with the strictest IEEE and IETF standards, and are based on years of experience and feedback from leading networking vendors who use these test suites during mission-critical phases of their development cycle. Existing IxANVL conformance test suites include Bridging, TCP/IP, IP Routing, IP Storage, MPLS, Network Security, Tunnelling, Multicast, and RMON.

The IxANVL 6.80 release also introduces a highly flexible floating license structure, making it possible for multiple users to share licenses and to transfer licenses among workstations within the test lab environment. The floating license structure greatly increases test throughput with the ability to distribute test suites to multiple IxANVL workstations for execution. For instance, L2 and L3 test suites can run on separate workstations simultaneously, instead of running serially on a single workstation.

IxANVL is run from Linux workstations, but can also be driven over a number of the network interfaces available on the purpose-built Ixia test platform via a Virtual Network Interface Card (VNIC) agent. This capability significantly enhances IxANVL's reach and flexibility for executing conformance tests over interfaces not commonly available on commercial workstations. This allows test engineers to more easily establish and expand their test beds by integrating IxANVL conformance testing together with the wide range of Ixia test hardware and performance test applications.
